We recently organized a mentorship session for young learners participating in the Summer Skills Program, designed to help them make the most of their Coursera Plus accounts and take full advantage of the wide range of learning opportunities available on the platform.

The session was facilitated by our Director, Mr. Mohamed Abdi, who guided learners on how to effectively navigate Coursera, identify courses aligned with their interests and career goals, develop consistent learning habits, and turn online learning into practical skills that can strengthen their career readiness and employability.

The session also provided an opportunity for learners to reflect on their progress and share their experiences. Many students proudly showcased the courses they have completed and certifications they have already earned, demonstrating their commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Their achievements are a strong reminder that access to quality digital learning, combined with the right guidance and motivation, can open new pathways for young people.

Through this mentorship, we continue to encourage learners to go beyond simply completing courses—to build relevant skills, earn recognized certifications, develop professional confidence, and prepare themselves for opportunities in the digital economy.

This initiative is part of Jamhuriya Incubation Center (JIC)’s strategic partnership with Coursera, UNTMIS, and UNSOS, which aims to expand access to world-class digital learning opportunities and equip Somali youth with the knowledge and skills needed to build successful careers and contribute to a stronger digital future for Somalia.
