Dr. Maryama Mohamed Hussein, the Deputy Minister of Health, officially closed the Entrepreneurs and Professionals Summit held on 27 August 2024, which brought together Somali youth, entrepreneurs, and professionals from various sectors. During the closing ceremony, Dr. Maryama praised the initiative, recognizing its impact on fostering innovation and skill development among Somali youth. She emphasized the critical importance of such events in empowering the next generation of Somali leaders.
In her speech, Dr. Maryama highlighted the summit’s role in providing young entrepreneurs with a platform to showcase their innovative ideas and connect with mentors, investors, and industry experts. She stressed that empowering the youth through such programs is essential for Somalia’s long-term economic development. “The future of Somalia rests in the hands of these young innovators, and it is our responsibility to provide them with the tools, skills, and opportunities they need to succeed,” she remarked.
Dr. Maryama also lauded the efforts of Jamhuriya University and the Jamhuriya Incubation Center (JIC) for organizing the summit, which focused not only on entrepreneurial development but also on professional growth and capacity building. She noted that the collaboration between the public and private sectors, along with academic institutions, is vital in ensuring that young people have access to resources that will help them transform their ideas into successful ventures. She encouraged the youth to continue pursuing their ambitions and to take full advantage of the opportunities provided by programs like those offered by JIC.
